The Walls of Jericho Fall Down Flat
as we start the book of JOSHUA, the first book after the 5 books of Moses, we read:
Moses is dead, now.          JOSHUA is the next leader.
God has told JOSHUA to 'be strong and of good courage'.

In 3 days, the Israelites will cross over the Jordan and began to conquer all the lands that God has promised them. And so it was that Joshua instructed the children of Israel to follow the priests who carried the ark of the covenant.
When the priests' feet stepped into the River Jordan, the waters dried up so that everyone could pass over to the other side.
Besides women and children and men not able to fight, there were 40,000 fighting men that crossed the Jordan that day.
JOSHUA had picked 12 men (one from each tribe) to pick up a stone out of the Jordan where the priests' feet had been.
These were big stones that the men had to hoist up onto their shoulder.
They stacked the stones up at Gilgal where they made camp.
JOSHUA told the Israelites that whenever their children asked them, "Why are these stones here?", to tell them that God led them through the Jordan on dry ground so that all the world would know that God is mighty and that He is to be feared.

The city of Jericho had all its gates shut and locked and all its windows shut and locked because they greatly feared the Israelites.  They had heard a lot about them! On the first day, the Israelites marched around Jericho once (the armed men leading the way, with seven priests blowing trumpets made from rams horns after them, then the ark of the covenant, then the people).  Then they went back to their camp at Gilgal.  The second day, they marched around the city once.  For six days, the Israelites marched around the city once with the priests blowing their trumpets.  (I wonder what the people inside the city thought by now!) On the seventh day, the Israelites had to start very early, because today, they would march around Jericho seven times.
After the seventh trip around the city, the priests blew the trumpets and the people shouted with a loud shout and the walls of Jericho fell down flat!
